What this space holds, and why.

This policy covers xenavoss.com and the Xena Voss reader list. In it, “I” and “me” mean Xena Voss, the author who runs this site. Questions can go to contact@xenavoss.com.

What is collected

• Your email address, and a first name if you give one, when you sign up for the reader list or request the free story Cold Work.
• What you choose to write if you email me directly.
• Basic technical data that any website receives when a page loads, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of the visit. The hosting and font providers named below process it to deliver and secure the site. I do not use it to profile you.
• Newsletter engagement. Like most email services, the newsletter platform can record whether a letter was delivered, opened, or a link was clicked. I look at totals, not individuals.

This site runs no advertising, no tracking pixels, no analytics scripts, and no social media widgets.

How it is used

• To send the free story and, after that, up to two letters a month about my writing, new releases, and occasional reader offers.
• To reply when you write to me.
• To keep the site and the list running, secure, and free of abuse.

Your address is never sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only with the service providers below, and only so they can do their part.

Legal basis (for readers in the UK and EU)

The newsletter relies on your consent, which you give by signing up and confirming your address. You can withdraw it at any time. Replying to email and keeping the site secure rely on legitimate interest.

Who helps run this

• Kit (ConvertKit LLC) hosts the signup form and sends the newsletter. See Kit’s privacy policy.
• Vercel hosts this website. See Vercel’s privacy policy.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces you are reading now, which means your browser requests font files from Google. See Google Fonts privacy.
• Zoho Mail handles email sent to xenavoss.com addresses. See Zoho’s privacy policy.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards for international transfers.

Links to other sites

Buttons that lead to Amazon, other retailers, or social platforms take you to sites with their own privacy practices. Some retailer links may be affiliate links. Once you leave xenavoss.com, those sites’ policies apply.

How long it is kept

Your subscription data stays with Kit until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. After you unsubscribe, Kit may keep a minimal record of your address so you are not emailed again by mistake. Personal emails are kept only as long as the conversation needs.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe with one click from the link at the bottom of any letter.
• Ask to see, correct, export, or delete the information I hold about you by writing to contact@xenavoss.com. I will reply within 30 days.
• Depending on where you live, including California, the UK, and the EU, you may have further rights: to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. I do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

This site and its books are written for adult readers. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, write to me and I will remove the address.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to the reader list is protected by strong passwords and two-step sign-in. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but the goal here is simple: hold as little as possible, and protect what is held.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in a letter.

The free story

Cold Work is a gift for your personal reading. Keep it as long as you like. Please do not resell it, repost it in full, or upload it elsewhere.

Fair use of the site

Please do not misuse the signup form, attempt to disrupt the site, or use it for anything unlawful.

Fiction

The books and stories presented here are works of fiction. Names, characters, companies, and events are products of imagination. Any resemblance to real people or organizations is coincidental.

Outside links and availability

Links to retailers and platforms are provided for convenience. I am not responsible for their content, pricing, or policies. Book prices, formats, and release dates can change. This site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and to the extent the law allows I am not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version on this page is the one that applies.

This site sets no cookies of its own. No advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no tracking. Even the light and dark theme switch simply follows your device setting and forgets your choice when you leave.

The signup form is provided by Kit. When it loads, or when you submit it, Kit may use strictly necessary cookies or similar browser storage to deliver the form, prevent spam, and confirm your subscription.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which does not set cookies for this purpose but does receive your IP address with each font request.

Because nothing optional is stored, there are no preferences to switch on or off here. If you would like to clear or block cookies anyway, your browser settings let you do so for any site. The rest of xenavoss.com will work without them.
